Christmas sale!
Hey Glassman,
You're in luck - the basket is part of this once in a lifetime Chalet Vintage Gallery's first Christmas ever saleLOL! Yeah - felt quite proud of that purchase until Dar asked quite innocently"Why did you buy a broken basket" Research - all in the interest of research.

The Bird's back!
The headless bird is back on eBay ($30 us) and it's twin (head on) is listed for a cool $150 us!!
110630742884 and 110630742226
Now he posted a warning that he was scolded:
"i have been told by a collector that the bird head has been broken off and if someone ground it down they did a very good job because it looks like it was made this way"
Tell me he couldn't tell the difference between the two?!?

Headless bird on eBay
I finally had taken a good look at the headless bird on eBay. It sure is not that good of a picture of it. That bird was originally made that way and if you look very carfully you can see the shape of its head. There is no dam way that anyone could reshape and repair any glass to form that shape. I am not saying that it has not been broken and glued back together but that would not change the shape and form of it.
In industry I have seen many different materials heated and shaped and also I have watch glass makers make art glass. To the best of my knowledge I do not think anyone can take a glass bird like this one and reshape it to what it looks like now.
If you have the proper black light you can see right away in the dark that the glass has any flaws in the glass or has been repaired. That is the advantage of having a UVA LED flashlight that I have ordered.

Broken
No it's broken off for sure, you can even seen that there is no clear glass around the edge.I've seen it done, they use a high speed dremal tool much like what they use to work on eye glasses. Any place that restores antiques, fixes china will do that.I don't understand why people bother. Why do you think the guy has it way cheeper? But hey if you like it, it's only 30 bucks!
