Here's some pictures of some Chalet glass I've picked up both animals and art glass. There are a few that are not made by Chalet, so if anyone could help me identify those ones, it would be greatly appreciated. I love seeing other people's collections too.

The photos are here [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

Thanks

My Chalet glass and other glass items. Empty gorgeous!

Hi Bob,

Welcome - great pictures and stunning glass!

The white with cranberry splatter is Chalet - it was made for Riekes and is stickered only and the sticker reads "Opal with Gold Flecking" and is on the black artist's shaped palette. A later line brought out when they were moving away from the heavy pieces. Did not catch on - few made so very rare. Personally I love this line.

The small orange is Lorraine. Totally agree - the splash ashtray and vases are among my favorites too. I have 2 green splash vases (one has 4 sets of fingers and the other has 3), one in orange, one in amber and a RED one! Have a blue one on the site (love the blue but don't collect it) and have the splash ashtrays in green, orange and amber - never seen a red one. My Mom and neice have it in blue - Chalet fever kinda spread through my familyLOL My daughter has a stunning Opal.... vase with lobed feet.

Is your bear signed? I have seen the two different sized polar bears but not this one!

So pleased that you are posting!

Nice collection,i won't comment on the animals, they not not my thing. The Amber bowl is unsigned Chalet, and the second to last one is Loraine. You can always tell by the tumb print design in the side of the base.

Hi Deborah and Glassman,
Thanks for the info.Yes the bear is signed.I kinda thought that may be a reikes piece but wasn't sure.I was out at the antique show in a mall here in Wpg. and came across another signed ram/goat($50.)so I bought it.I just started collecting chalet glass in the fall but not buying everything I see, don't have the room.LOL I'm picking up a 4 spike 2 color vase this week-end.
Glassman, your collection is amazing,I was going for the animals because they were smaller but ended up branching out to the other ones.Is it worth buying a piece that is marked "canada art"?A friend has one here that he says he'll sell me if I'm interested.
have a good day

My Chalet glass and other glass items. Empty bear and whale

Post  deborah Thu Mar 17, 2011 11:36 am

Hi again Bob,

I envy you the bear! I have never seen that and now will look. Your "fish" is a whale - Chalet did 2 versions - tail up and tail out and I have a signed one of each and the catalog numbers. Won't share yet - surprises comingLOL I have only seen the whales in this colour combination of deep blue and deep olive green. There are part of the "Canadiana Wildlife" line and in fact the whale with the tail out is one of the animals line drawn on the hang tag. They were also signed Chalet Canada.

Envy you the spike too!

Glad you like my collection i will be adding more pictures this weekend. It still won't be my whole collection.Canada Art is not well known, kind of a little mystery. Most of there pieces are kind of boring really. If your wanting a high dollar piece i would say no,don't bother with it.Personally i just buy what i love so if you love it buy it.That being said i would not pay a lot for it.
