Polar Bear?
Did Chalet make a polar bear and what did it look like? A photo would be great.

Chalet polar bear
Hi and welcome!
Yes - Chalet did make a polar bear and in 2 sizes. It was one of their animals in the "Canadiana Wildlife" series.and their catalogue numbers were #605 and #621.There is a signed multi coloured (green and yellow) one in the "Shop" section of the site under specialities and I have posted the picture of it here as well. I have only seen them in these colours with one notable exception - Maestro Panizzon lent me his for the "Art & Artisans" exhibit - here is a picture of his exhibit pieces with the bear. It is featured in the exhibit program as well.He did this himself so not part of the production run. It is "aventurria" with silver and the blue is a shade of turquoise which is not typical.
I would love to see a completely clear bear - I have seen both coloured and clear Canada geese so will ask the artists next time I have the opportunity. It would be stunning and completely logical. Most of the clear animals were for Riekes so we should keep our eyes peeled.

So glad you posted - we have all been "hibernating"LOL (couldn't resist - sorry) lately so very nice to have you join!
Looking forward to talking more!

2 bear figurines-signed and unsigned
Hi again,
Just another note- see e-bay listing #110646190377 for an unsigned polar bear that is listed as Chalet and e-bay listing #130486470358 for a signed Chalet bear figurine. Great that the 2 different animals are on at the same time so we can see and compare the differences!
I think the polar bear listing is actually either a Lorraine Glass Industries or Mosaic Artistic bear. I have seen a stickered Mosaic polar bear (Mosaic pieces were only ever stickered) and this is virtually identical. However, as the glass blowers there came from Lorraine Glass Industries - hard to say which this is. Lorraine and Mosiac animals tended to be larger than their Chalet counterparts.
I will be soon receiving better copies of the Chalet catalog pages I have now and hopefully they will be clear enough so that it is possible to differentiate between the 2 bear figures that are catalogued and to see what the differences between the two Chlaet bear figurines are.
I will also be meeting with the glass blowers at the end of February and will ask them then if they consider Chalet bears to be of the brown, black or polar genusLOL.
