very unusual Chalet lamps - not the "crystal twist" style
Hi everyone,
After a bit of "Chalet hiatus", this week has found me up to my ears in rare Chalet pieces with the end result being a lessening of my "Chalet envy"LOL and an increase in both my personal collection and inventory pieces - means a photo shoot needed! As you guys know - I am a terrible photographerLOL
Anyways, I spent most of the day in Morrisburg (about half an hour outside of Cornwall) with an incredibly knowledgeable collector - I first met him at the Morrisburg fleamarket about 3 years ago when I was first starting to seriously collect Chalet and had been approached by the Cornwall museum to put on the 2010 exhibit. He told me about Chalet mushrooms, walked me through the fleamarket and pointed out pieces of Chalet that I would have never dreamed were Chalet and showed me pieces that I would have thought were Chalet and weren't - for example, those "star shaped" bases. Anyways, like many of us (Glassman - thinking of you) he needs to cull his collection and I was fortunate to be the first person he thought to call! He doesn't have 1 set of Chalet lamps - no he has 2 and the ones here are unlike any I have ever seen. I have included a picture of the typical, although very rare crystal twist Chalet lamp, for you to compare these to. His other set is a pair of blue, crystal twist. He lived in Cornwall for years so was able to pick up some amazing pieces. He told me that on my next visit - will get to meet an elephant with BOTH silver and gold inclusions. Not just one or the other - both. You will notice a crystal wine bottle in this picture with the lamps - will post separately about his wine bottles - again plural!

These will look stunning on my bedside tables - pictures to follow after shoot!

Love those lamps! I like them because the seem more lamp-like than the other style which just look like an upside down vase. Colour is great too!

agree!
Hey there,
I agree - these are stunners. Wish I could tell more about them. They were stickered not signed but other than that - have no info. I wonder about production in terms of quanity and if were done at same time as the others, are there more styles (we have now seen 4 different types of bottles so maybe)..................... All I know is that when the artists saw the "crystal twist" lamp at the exhibit, they did not mention other styles and I have never seen any. The collector that owns these oived in Cornwall and has been collecting for quite a long time. Maybe they were a special order or done for one of themselves? I know I have never seen others.
