Did you notice the clear made in Canada stickers? Did you notice all the Czech and Murano pieces? Did you notice the $$$$$$$$$$$ prices? My mom used to say if you don't have anything nice to say .........

asked not to come back
Hi Bradley,
I go every time I am in Vancouver. In fact, I have introduced a few of the forum members to the store. The last time I was there - was asked not to come back as they do not want me there or bringing people in as we have never bought anything. actually not true as the person who first took me there bought a Lorraine vase (marked chalet) for $800... I was quite shocked but it's funny. See my other posts about the gallery. The owners know nothing about Chalet - I have heard some pretty wild tales from him.
His pieces are spectacular but there is so much Lorraine and Edag and other stuff that is marked chalet and you cannot see the markings on the pieces that are unusual. this is where I saw my first pieced of Chalet that was pierced but could not verify as they would not let me see the marking.

haha they MARKED it CHALET? (lorraine vase)
or was just a MISMARKED piece?
The fact he was rambling on about how they know the person that made each piece put me off he was trying to bak up his price of the pieces that way but i said u cant say u know who exactly made this cranberry swan and i belive it was a production piece and could of been anyone of the people working at chalet lol i guess the TOURISTS that go there belive his crap lol had some nice BLUE RIBBON vase and round ashtray pieces though and uranium animals didnt even bother asking for the prices prob $500 lol i can understand maybe charging $300-400 maybe for pieces due to there location and overheads and then maybe have % off sale to move pieces along when needed but $975 is a price thats ridiculous lol

Don't forget those little round made in Canada stickers they put on them all along with the Etheral stickers. They've had the same pieces for sale for years.

Had to add this, What I really don't understand is why lie about it? Why would you not say these are vintage Canadian Art Glass? not made anymore, that adds value to me anyway. You can charge whatever you want for something, but don't make up stories about something you know nothing about. Also don't stick made in Canada stickers on glass that is clearly not Canadian. Then again they clearly have no idea what is and isn't Canadian Art Glass.

I visited the store once with Deborah, which was education as I learned a great deal about Chalet and Lorraine. I was amazed at the prices, too. I remember when Michel Blais had a store in downtown Vancouver selling Chalet (he had a mixture of Chalet, Lorraine, and various Czech companies, although everything was called Chalet). His prices were though the roof. He sold primarily to US visitors on cruise ships. When the US recession hit, the store closed. I think "Ethereal Glass" has inherited his market, his prices, and his bs.

$$$
As a guy that sold Blais Gallery a few hundred pieces, your right on the money, well said, well said indeed. I will tell you this, Blais Gallery also had two restaurant and they hot glued Chalet to the beams on the ceiling and between the tables. Let's just say most of that glass is no longer with us. Crazy idea.
