major site updates, revisions and corrections
Hi everyone,
The site has been up for over a year now. While there have been ongoing updates and revisions and corrections made throughout the last 14 months, it has been due for a major overhaul for quite some time. Time constraints, gathering info and getting my web designer for an extended period have been the reasons for putting it off. However, you may have already noticed or will see some problems getting onto the site this weekend as today we started this major overhaul which will continue for the next few days. We have finished quite a few pages already - new splash page photo, new links on the "Chalet in the Press" pages, new home page photos, new "Not to be Missed", updated and corrected "History of Chalet Artistic, Artistry, Glossary and Glossary Slideshow" pages. And there is more to come -hopefully, by the this time tomorrow night, you will see changes and additions to all other pages. Takes time but worth it.
Please bear with us for the next 24 hours as we work to make this site more accurate, more informative and easier to use. The glass and its artists are worth the effort! Please note that one of the most important additions has been to add to the list of Chalet artists in the "Artistry" pages. I hope that we will be able to grow this list as more is learned as the Chalet glass blowers deserve to be recognized.
I really appreciate the feedback I received when I asked site buyers/forum collectors for their feedback in making the site and shop pages easier to use and more informative. I also appreciate the information I have received from the artists and collectors so that mistakes can be corrected and new information can be shared. A huge help - obtaining Chalet catalogue pages from Maestro Gatto and the Corning Museum of Glass. You may have noticed that I have been providing Chalet catalogue numbers here in the forum, in private e-mails, on the revised site listings for unmarked pieces and in my e-bay store to help with authenticating and identifying Chalet pieces. Over the last year, I think it has gotten increasingly important to be as specific as possible. But there is still that "Never say Never" factor!
I also have been lucky enough to hear stories from the artists themselves which I share whenever possible - through this forum, in the book and in my listings. Getting the info from the "horses mouth" has been a privilege as well as quite a bit of fun!
Thanks again!
Deborah

love the showcasing slideshow
Deborah,
As a fellow designer - must say I love the new addition to the showcasing section. Great advice. AND your photographer must have had the patience of Job with getting house shots to work! Super addition to site.

coming along
Hi AnnieB,
Glad you like it! Yeah - some of the shots were hard to get because of either space or light and sometimes both. And you are also right re my photographer - great guy with alot of enthusiasm and patience.
Still working on the revisions in the "shop" pages - will take a couple more days. Everywhere else is done.
Appreciate the feedback.
