cranberry and blue cross arm uranium marked

I read deborah's reply regarding cranberry and blue pieces that may contain uranium and checked this small 13 inch basket. it does glow but not strongly under black light.

Lovely colours in your basket! I wonder if it is glowing because of Magnesium in the blue rather than uranium. Anyone got a geiger counter?

Hi guys,

Right on the mark re the glow not being from uranium. But in this case it's the manganese used to make the blow that would be glowing. Magnesium usually glows red and cranberry doesn't glow at all.

Almost anything glows under UV but uranium is the "fireworks" flouresce of bright limey green.
