Controlled Bubble? Empty Controlled Bubble?

Hello from a new admirer! What a pleasant surprise it was to find this site! Right now I have a burning question--does anyone know if Chalet ever used controlled bubble technique in their creations? Many thanks in advance for your consideration.

Controlled Bubble? Empty controlled bubble

Hi there,

So pleased that you found the site and forum - welcome!

Yes, Chalet did use the "bullicante" - controlled bubble technique. They did not use the "pulegoso"-uncontrolled bubble. There is a signed sommerso bullicante owl with gold on the site (look under specialities, signed or blue in the Shop section and it is also used in the Glossary section). Bullicante pieces are very rare - Lorraine seemed to do this more often. I have a amber bowl in my personal collection which is signed and an unsigned orange curl and spike but that's it for me. I love the bullicante pieces - hopefully we will get some pictures here.

Glassman, Langhaugh or cwms - do you have any signed pieces that are bullicante?

Yes,they did do bubbles and i would say they are very rare.I've only ever had ashtrays that were signed. Most of the ones you see with bubbles are Czech or Murano ashtrays a lot of times there is no clear glass in them. Most of the bigger ones you see are Loraine, they usually have the star shaped base. You should check out the link on my other post i have one green one with bubbles,it's Murano.

Controlled Bubble? Empty Controlled buble

Welcome to the discussion forum Sassy.
Yes chalet has done controlled bubble pieces and I agree very rare, at the Chalet exhibit in Cornwall we only had 3 pieces of bullicante to exhibit the owl which Deborah refered to and an amber cigar bowl with a large black Chalet sticker on it as well as an orange cigar bowl unsigned and unstickered. I have been buying glass for many many years and marked bullicante pieces is not at all easy to find. The only ones I ever seen signed was the owl the other was a sticker only and 2 unmarked pieces. Do you have a piece of chalet with controlled bubbles Sassy? If so it would be great to see a picture of it on this site for all to lust over...no would be great if we knew the shape size so we can easier identify pieces we come across and have doubts about in the furture. Thanks Dar

Controlled Bubble? Empty Controlled Bubble!

Wow! Muchas gracias for the prompt and informative responses.I'm not sure my 2 pieces are Chalet or Lorraine (or neither).
My other thought was Murano.Neither is marked as such.I promise to post pix when my camera and pitiful tech expertise allow me to do so.I shall return often,I'm certain.I've been ogling thousands of art glass images lately and am addicted.

And now I know that bubbles are a Chalet possibility! TTFN!!
