this weeks pieces
i started picking up only orange and blue chalet style glass ;for a few years; about ten years ago . than many years passed. one day, to my surprise ,my best friend pulled out of her pocket a chalet etched animal figurine. at that point in my "collecting", i did not know that chalet did anything besides the big stretch pieces. little did i know when i typed in "vintage chalet glass" on google and hit return , that everything was about to change.....Deborah had launched this site ! javascript:emoticonp('') i had then realized how little i knew about Chalet and the diversity of their pieces....and how much i wanted them ! lol since then, ive been trying to learn more about vintage canadian glass and diversify my collection...with a lot of help from the website/forum.
this was an exciting week of "firsts" for me javascript:emoticonp('')
first twist vase...and second

proof positive!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hi there,
You just made my day re my theory about Canada Art!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We , through your piece, now see this signature on a catalogued production piece of Chalet - would have been even more perfect if it had a Chalet marking as well but who can expect everything at once:). I wish we had had this piece to include in the revised edition of the "Chalet Marks, Labels and Product lines" - next edition:) Now we just have to figure out - early Chalet marking - maybe a test re the name change in 1962? or a collector? or a boutique?
Your blue vase also unique - have never seen this piece marked with anything other than a Chalet marking. Chalet is truly consistent with their inconsistent markingLOL
Super post - thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Deborah
