Re Angelo Rossi

I am not that sure if Angel Rossi ever worked for Chalet Artistic Glass. I know of a woman that lives in Cornwall and her deceased husband was a friend of Angel Rossi. Angel Rossi has a daughter that lives in Cornwall and this woman that I know of knows Angel Rossi daughter. I use to live in Long Sault. I have found articles that said that Angel Rossi was the first person to ever have made cranberry glass in Canada which is not true. Chalet Artistic Glass made the first 24 percent lead crystal cranberry glass in Canada. I have several pieces of Chalet cranberry lead crystal glass in my collection of Chalet Artistic Glass.

Hi there,

Angelo worked at Chalet from 1972 to 1975 - in fact, he achieved Master glass blower status while at Chalet. He is a talented artist but not responsible for Chalet or Chalet's success. And you are absolutely right - he DID not invent the Chalet cranberry. He worked with Sergio Pagnin on the Canadianna cranberry line while at Chalet - as did all the other glass blowers. But this line was purely Sergio's creation.

There is alot of misinformation about Rossi and Chalet out there re him buying Chalet and continuing it, him inventing the cranberry - none true and very frustrating for Chalet collectors and the Chalet Maestros to hear!
