second year forum anniversary
Hi everyone,
In the madness of late August and early September (book, shelter and renovations), I missed commenting on the fact that the forum and Web site have now been up and a going concern for 2 years. And I forgot that I forgot until I was "gently" reminded by a forum member - thank you!
It has been a really crazy 2 years and two that have gone by so quickly that it is scary. Alot happened during those 24 months - the forum has 96 members now from the US, UK and Canada. Chalet fans are still growing in number and the glass is collected world-wide. We were able to put on the first ever Chalet retrospective and 2 books on the glass are now out there. The number of hits that the site and forum get are incredible and grow each month. The forum is active and everyone seems at ease with offering opinions, compliments and comments.
I was warned that collectors were crazy and contentious - I have seen very little of the contentious but will have to admit that the crazy keeps rearing its head - especially after weekend "hunting"LOL As my personal collection now stands at close to 200, I will admit to being one of the "crazies". Haven't been able to get out much lately but have slated Friday as a "glass day" and hope to be home before the hubby with a trunk full. Would love to break the 200 mark before year end! Still chasing the elusive wine bottle, a matched set of candlehoders, a pierced piece - all the smug smiles out there (you know who you are) can just go away!
Thanks everyone for making this such a pleasant adventure. I have been really fortunate to meet quite a few of you which has been a real treat. In 2 weeks, I am speaking to a group from the Canadian glass association "Glasfax" (I am a member) and hope to win even more over to the "Chalet side"! Will let you know how it goes.
Deborah

Thanks!
Hey Bradley,
Have to say - collecting Chalet is a hoot and I am throughly enjoying it. The only problem with getting to know you guys - more e-bay competitionLOL. I am super pleased that the forum can contribute to people's knowledge of and appreciation for Chalet. I have learned so much from it - an example - the new guide. If I hadn't been able to borrow pics from forum members - couldn't support theories etc. I appreciate the pat on the back and right back at all you guys!

a significant milestone
Hello Deborah,
I too am pleased that this discussion circle has done so well. The first year anniversary was quite notable but this one even more so as interest has not waned but in fact has grown. I think it remarkable that the forum is so active and that new members are so enthusiastic. Chalet is dear to our hearts but still a niche collectors' item so the increasing interest and activity is significant.
I also agree that tone of the forum is very collegial and attribute that to geniune interest from serious collectors. It is not how long you have been collecting nor the number of pieces you acquire that indicates seriousness but curiousity in my opinion and that is what this forum successfully addresses.
