More to the new collection
I found this deep fire orange glass bowl, I think it is chalet or maybe Lorraine a lovey piece to add to my collection . I also have been finding the weird little glass bowl/Ashtray like pieces, a green and a blue one and there pretty small. It is kinda neat, as you see in the picture, the blue one glows under a black light. Do you guys have any idea who makes them? I am very curious

nice
Hi wownut,
Great ashtray - Lorraine. The colour is gorgeous. Chalet never did bases like that - found that out from the artists at the exhibit.
The other 2 little pieces are Chalet" bomboniere". Picture them filled with candied almonds - they were wedding table gifts as were the little baskets and tiny realistic swans. Made primarily for the Montreal market and distributed most often by Tex Novelty and Chantili. The blue glows most likely from manganese which was one of the ingredients used to get that colour. Lots of times that particular glow confused with uranium but Chalet did not use uranium in this type of glass - they are moulded. (Check out the slideshow in the site to see uranium glow or the 2 ashtrays in the uranium pages of the shop - real limey flourescent green). These little moulded pieces also often had less lead in them. You will find some moulded pieces in bright lime green - this was the only time Chalet did this colour.
