Murano influence on Chalet

I thought people might be interested to get a sense of the Murano influence on Chalet. This is a photograph of a piece in a shop window in Venice, where I was lucky enough to visit last Fall. The piece was made in Murano in 1960.

Sorry for the poor quality of the photo. I couldn't upload the photo so Deborah has kindly done that for me in the next thread.

I didn't know how else to get this question to you so I'll just go thru here. I see you were asking questions about 2 years ago about a pair of candeholders (Belfor). Were you able to find anything out about them? The reason I'm asking is that I just bought a pair of them at the thrift shop and when I tried to find info I came across your posting.

Posted here for you too so that it was easier for members to follow.

If the piece wasn't clear - you could say Lorraine and if it didn't have that base - you could say Chalet. Their roots are clearly showing. Especially in the case of Chalet. I am posting a catalogue page and you'll see that they just transplanted a style right out of your picture - bottom left .

Sorry about the delay in replying to the Belfor question. I thought I had already posted but my post disappeared. I did get a positive id on the candleholders. They were made at Karlovarske Sklo, which was the factory that was was originally Moser, was taken over the State around 1948, and then after 1992 reverted to ownership by Moser. Not all pieces produced at Karlovarske Sklo can be called Moser, however, as, for example, Mstisov production was moved there. The pieces were designed by either Oldrich Lipa or Lubos Metelak, most likely Lipa, around 1971. The model number is 542000/01. Quality pieces.
