Possible Murano? Empty Possible Murano?

Post  JP Sat Jun 09, 2012 10:57 pm

I picked up this piece recently. It is very heavy and is fluorescent under a black light. It is a lovely blue and purple. I feel the need to clarify as I'm not sure of my photography skills (for my Flickr skills but that's for another email!). I'm thinking this piece is Murano but would appreciate your thoughts.

Could maybe be Czech,Murano is always the safe bet.

This piece was blown in an optic mould, which is typical in Murano, but not common in Czech. The blue looks a little strong for Murano, but it may be the light. I agree with Glassman that Murano is the best bet.

Thank you so much! I was not familiar with an optic mold, but now I am (thanks to YouTube :-)). Very interesting and very skilled craftsmen. It really is a lovely little vase.
