I am a retired industrial electrician and was in charge of the maintenance department. With all the different lighting I was involved with in industry I don't think the Canadian Tire black light is just not adequate enough for what I hope to accomplish when getting adequate uranium reading from glass I am interested in collecting. I would have several books and charts at work to direct me to what lighting was need to accomplish a certain project. There is a right way of doing things and there is a wrong way of doing things.
I just may know what I am trying to accomplish. I find several expert art glass collectors on the web that I find very interesting on how to identify collectable glass.

The UVA LED black light flashlight I have ordered is the same kind of flashlight that police use at a crime scene.
This type of light can be used for many other purposes. I will let you know how I make out with it when it arrives. It is a good way to tell if uranium was used to make an art glass piece when one is trying to buy glass that may have been made with uranium. There are many different type of minerals used to make glass that just may mislead one in hope of finding glass that was made with uranium. Time will tell how successful this turns out to be. I feel one can never be that sure of anything. A proper Geiger counter would be a very expensive way to go about finding uranium made glass.
My guess it will take time to develop a well trained eye when using this flashlight as I would guess you have developed a well trained eye when you are seaching for heavy art glass made by Chalet or Loraine.

Sounds like a cool toy.I don't look for only ones that glow but it is nice. The olive green ones are hard to tell, most glow but then again some don't,and they are the same colour.I think your Loraine bird will glow nicley, and a few of your amber ones too.I find that the orange ones like you have don't do too much.Unless they are the more yellow and orange ones.I think it would be cool to have have a huge display of glowing Chalet.
