Fading colors

Hi all. I like to display my pieces where sunlight hits them. Will this fade or change the color like it does with fabric, paint and flooring?

Hi Roy,

No it won't - Altaglass however (because of the way it was made) should not be exposed to sunlight as it will eventually complete disintegrate. What will harm your Chalet is very, very hot water or being put through the dishwasher. Always use warm water and clean by hand.

I agree...Chalet in the sunlight really creates a beautiful array of colors. However, one word of caution. I have seen on 3 occasions Chalet glass exposed to strong direct sunlight cause burns to furniture. It is the magnifying glass effect in sunlight. As a result, I have moved many of mine.

Last summer, a vendor's table at the flea market at the Rideau Carleton raceway in Ottawa caught fire because of a clear Chalet bear. It lit the table cloth on fire.

I have lots of glass in my windows,never had any problems,and my place faces south,they don't even really get that hot.I think the sun could break the glass down but that would probablly take hundreds of years.Look at all the stained glass windows,some of those are over a hundred years old.However i did have a piece that cracked because i left a tiny bit of water in the bottom and it got cold and cracked.Now i just use windex,it's easier too.

There has got to be a joke in there about the Chalet Bear starting a fire lol.
